After writing a positive post about essay writing it pains me to write about a negative essay experience. Last week I handed in an essay for my Geology class. It was about the Placodermi Classification of Fossil Fish...sounds tough right. It was and I'm terrible with science...I get confused and I don't understand the thinking process. I did an o.k. job and got it in early. The prof agreed to evaluate it and hand it back so I could correct it. So in class today he talked to the class about the already submitted essays....he began to talk about mine and said to the class that whoever wrote this paper used a book that by reputation is full of incorrect material. How was I supposed to know? It shouldn't be in the science library if it's wrong. So at the beginning of class I went to pick it up out of the pile of essays on his desk. It wasn't there. I told him I was the Placodermi guy and he said he would not be handing it back...hhmmmm. I'm writing this via wireless internet in that class and I don't what he's gonna tell me...I'll let you know later but this is very weird.

UPDATE: I need to say that my prof is from eastern Europe and is hard to understand. We chatted after class and he informed me that he gave me a grade of 68%. I get the impression that the reason he didn't give it back to me was that he could see that I wasn't a strong science guy and I wouldn't do much better (if at all) the second time around. Because it's science and because I was so super out of my league in writing this paper I think I'll take the mark. It's not great but the difference between that and a 70% which was my goal is not worth the extra headache.

I understand your feelings about science totally. You're right about the book - it shouldn't be in the library! And why won't he give you your paper back?!
I'm very interested as to what will happen...

Hey babe,

You got it done, 68% isn't he worst mark ever, and the best part? You're done it. Good for you.

Sorry about your bad experience. At least you were close to your goal mark. It sucks to have that happen but at least it's over.
