I've mentioned before that there really isn't much indoor basketball here in Kaohsiung. No real reason to go indoor cuz it's beautiful year round here but there is something to be said for hardwood and no wind factor. About a month ago my friend Keith got an idea to put a team together. He chose 11 guys to be on a team that will hopefully play some indoor games in the future. Well the ball got rolling and the future is now. We have 11 guys, new uniforms and yesterday we had our second game. Two weeks ago we played a really strong high school squad in our first outing and we got kicked by 30. This week was a little different. We arranged a game against a local men's league team. The contact guy however brought two teams out and asked if we would like to play 5 quarters. (I realize it ceases to be a quarter but that's what he said) We were gung ho and signed on for a long ass game. We started out slow getting down by 10 early but found our groove by the third quarter. In the fourth quarter we really picked it up and completed the 15 point comeback to take a 4 point lead. It was getting intense. Then the chinese guy named David came and asked if we could extend it to 6 quarters. Sure. We played the fifth fairly even and the sixth came down to some last second free throws and a missed put back. Final score Us 78-Them 79. We lost but it was so fun and so nice to be back indoors. I scored 18 and had 12 assists........ok, who am I kidding, I had 2 points maybe 3 assists and about 5 turnovers......I can only get better.
