Can't wait to read

Summer vacation is coming soon, the last day of school for Nevada is 4 weeks away. Then we flight out on Monday June 4. I'm starting to get excited and one of the things I'm most excited to do is read. I haven't had much time to read since Gemma came along but with the swarming family and a plethora of babysitters this summer I'm sure I'll have a few extra hours in the week. I sometimes try to sit out on our deck and get a few pages done but the truth of that progress is that I've been reading the same book since Christmas and I'm only 100 pages in. I've always been in a rut reading mostly Christian books...let me explain. These books are good, some really good but as a former English student I miss reading fiction. I want to feel the depth of the characters, appreciate the intricate word choice, be surprised by a twisting plot and learn about humanity through the eyes of typewriter pianists. I need some suggestions for fiction to read, if you have any. And if anyone has a copy of something I could borrow in the summer that too would be wonderful as there is no point buying a book you can read for free. Who knows maybe I'll even finish this book I've been working on for 6 months.

Hey Chester. Here are a few titles that I enjoy: "Keeper n' Me" by Richard Wagemese, "Tess of the d'Urberville", by Thomas Hardy, "Starlight Tour" by Susanne Reber and Robert Renaud. Just a few that I've read recently and really enjoy. I can lend you "Tess" and "Starlight Tours" but I don't own "Keeper". Talk to you later.

have you read any of Ted Dekker's books? very intriguing. I'd recommend his trilogy "Black" "Red" and "White" as a great starting point.

Anything by Randy Alcorn. He not only writes great stories but will challenge you in your faith. The only fiction I would not recommend by him is Edge of Eternity. Everything else has been a great and worthwhile read by Him.

A few faves of mine are "Requiem For A Lost Empire" by Andrei Makine. Delving into some classics I recently read and loved "Heart of Darkness" by Jospeh Conrad. "Tortilla Flat" by John Steinbeck is a great book. I could go on, but maybe just check one of those out.

I really enjoyed "The Memory Box Keeper" (forget the author).

Sorry - you won't get very far looking for the book I suggested, as I got the title wrong! (Mommy brain!) It's actually The Memory Keeper's Daugter and it's by Kim Edwards.

Hi Chester, Off topic but I was wondering if you knew anyone in Taiwan interested in coming to Saskatoon to study/live. I am looking for an exchange student to stay at my place and share the rent with me. Hope all is well with you in Taiwan. Lesley from Lakeview Church
