It's not normal to have a BBQ here in Taiwan. As you can imagine apartment living isn't the most conducive for family grilling time. We were in Costco earlier this year and saw these great Kingsford charcoal BBQs and knew it was a must-have purchase. We've only used it a few times but it rocks our world everytime. It's always a strange time coming back from Canada where we barbeque every second night in the summer to Taiwan where they only BBQ at Korean restaurants and once a year at home. Speaking of the once-a-year thing, next Tuesday is the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival here and I'm not sure why but that is the one day of the year when everyone barbeques. They buy these disposable grills, a bag of charcoal and some fire starters and they have family BBQs that last from supper time until the wee hours of the morning. It's a lot of fun and I love walking around the neighborhood smelling that BBQ flavor in the air. This year I've been invited by a local guy I play basketball with to join his family for a Moon Festival BBQ...I'll take some pics for you to see but for now check out the pics of the scrumptious steak dinner we had this week.

So what is the white food at the top of the plate?
I bet your anniversary gift from your Mom really heats things up fast. haha

I'm jealous about the bbq. They're great. It's fun to spend this holiday with locals, they know how to bbq! Enjoy!
